The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to troubleshoot, repair and maintain facility equipment according to safety and productive maintenance systems and processes. The Functional Safety Engineer is responsible for leading safety related activities to influence the design, development and manufacture of innovative metal cutting and assembly equipment. This position is responsible for the mechanical build and start-up of machine tool equipment. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, an in-depth knowledge of metric prints, and an understanding of metal cutting principles. This position requires travel during machine installations (mostly domestic, some international) where you will interface with customers directly.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Assemble and start-up new CNC machines to GROB specifications
  • Assemble and start-up assembly equipment
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments (such as calipers, levels, indicators, micrometers, etc.)
  • Read and follow mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical prints/drawings
  • Read and follow tool layouts and NC code (G-code, M-functions)
  • Troubleshoot machine errors

 

Education and Experience Requirements

 

  • High School Diploma minimum; Associates Degree preferred in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering Technology
  • Understanding of drawings, schematics and troubleshooting
  • NC programming experience preferred
  • Previous CNC machining or machine building experience preferred
  • Previous experience with assembly equipment and robotic cells preferred

This position is responsible for the early stage assembly of our proprietary machine tool equipment. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude and an in-depth knowledge of metric prints. This position may require short-term travel during machine installations (mostly domestic, some international) where you will interface with customers directly.

 

Roles & Responsibilities

 

  • Review part prints and collect materials per the bill of materials
  • Assemble parts for machining centers and assembly equipment including automation components
  • Alignment, setup, and quality checks of assemblies
  • Occasionally travel to customer facilities in order to direct, assist, and train customers on the installation, start-up and operation of equipment

Responsibilities

 

Research, design, develop and test the manufacturing and installation of special CNC machine tools, machining centers, assembly systems, and spare parts; Interpret detailed controls engineering drawings and supporting documents; Coordinate installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with product specifications and customer requirements; Commission all machine drives to ensure the machine complies to certain standard motions, which includes loading and setting the required parameters on each drive to ensure the drives will accelerate and decelerate and achieve a positioning accuracy according to our specifications; Direct and control installation projects from beginning to end, starting-up equipment and customizing GROB-designed software programs for the proprietary machinery based on each customer's requirements; Design software solutions on different CNC controller platforms which runs and operates our industrial machinery; and Design operator screens, operator guidance and diagnostics software to improve the comfort level for our end customers.

 

Basic Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign educational equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, Or Manufacturing Engineering. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, employer will accept two (2) additional years of experience in the machining industry. Applicant must also have at least three (3) years of experience in all of the following: machine tool industry demonstrating strong mechanical aptitude, an in-depth knowledge of metric prints, and advanced skills in metal cutting principles and assembly cells; coordinating automotive turnkey equipment installations; and SAP. Up to 20% travel domestically/internationally.
